About Acupuncture

One of the most powerful experiences of expanded consciousness I have ever experienced was during an acupuncture treatment. It was on that day that I knew I had to study this powerful ancient healing tradition. Whether you are trying to get pregnant, avoid a cold or flu, clear sinusitis and allergies, quit smoking--the list goes on and on–-acupuncture is effective, cost-effective and there are no side effects. But I urge you to also consider the benefits of STAYING HEALTHY! Don’t wait until sickness prevails until you seek treatment. Prevention is the best medicine.

FAQ's

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points. Recent research has shown increased electromagnetic activity at the sites of points the Chinese mapped out over a thousand years ago!

What problems can be treated by acupuncture?

The World Health Organization has said that acupuncture is suitable for treating the following:

•  ear, nose and throat disorders: i.e., sinusitis, earaches, toothaches

•  respiratory disorders: bronchial asthma in children and adults, allergies

•  gastrointestinal disorders: digestive tract problems, inflammation of the stomach, chronic duodenal ulcers, constipation, diarrhea

•  nervous system & muscular disorders: headaches, migraines, certain facial paralysis (Bell’s palsy,) partial weakness after a stroke, tennis elbow, sciatica, low back pain and osteoarthritis

How many treatments will I need?

That depends on the duration, severity and nature of your complaint. Some acute conditions respond immediately and resolve after a single treatment. Other more chronic situations may take a series of five to fifteen treatments. It is impossible to predict the exact time frame that your body will need to heal.

Does it hurt?

Proper stimulation of an acupuncture point may feel like a dull ache, a pulsing, distention, heaviness or tingling. The after effects of a treatment have been characterized by some as deeply relaxing, yet simultaneously almost euphoric.
